Finding a cheap tablet is not difficult, but finding one that brings a lot of bang for the buck is. Here’s a review of the Acer Iconia One 10 (B3-A30), a device that has a low price tag and many awesome features. It is not designed to be a high-end tablet, which is fine because many of us don’t use these devices for professional use. The One 10 is suitable for media consumption, like watching videos and playing games. As for games, it feels pretty limited considering the specs are pretty average. This would make a perfect choice for kids because they are usually satisfied with low-intensity games.
The Acer Iconia One 10 doesn’t look special. Well, it is a budget device, so you need to lower your standards because cheap tablets rarely feature a premium design. But this one at least looks good with its white-plastic chassis. The speakers can be found somewhere on the front. Meanwhile, the back looks pretty stylish with a Chrome color tone. There is also a 5-megapixel camera that you can use to take medium-quality pictures. A micro-USB port is available along with a microSD card slot. Just insert a memory card if the internal storage can no longer hold more data. With such a large screen, the texturized back provides more grip. It is important because large tablets are harder to hold with one hand.
If you are looking for a tablet with a 10-inch screen, the Acer Iconia One 10 (B3-A30) is a good deal. Aside from being affordable, it’s also loaded with essential features. For the size, we would expect a much higher resolution. This one offers a 1,280×800 resolution, which is pretty low given the size. But when we take into account the price, it actually makes sense. Text is readable, but not very clear especially when the font is very small. It also lacks crispness that other high-end tablets have. Overall, the display quality is quite average. The color reproduction is good, though.
The placement of the speakers is actually ideal. We can easily prevent our hands from blocking them. When it comes to quality, the loudness is there, but it kind of falls short in depth. When you compare it to others like the Asus Zenpad 3S 10, the difference becomes clear. The bass, for instance, is somewhat lacking. So if you buy a tablet for music experience, it is probably not the best choice. (Also read: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Offers a Stylus and a Keyboard Case)
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a unique Acer flavor. This becomes apparent as you view the home screen. There are many pre-loaded apps. You may find some useful, so just check them out. The bloatware is of the reasons why the internal storage can quickly run out although it is supposed to amount to 16GB. This tablet doesn’t boast premium internal components. For performance, it relies on a 1.3GHz Mediatek mt8163 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It does a good job for moderate use. Lags still occur especially when you like to switch between apps. To avoid that, don’t forget to close apps in the background. It can handle tasks like browsing and video streaming, but when it comes to gaming, you need to be more selective.
