Chinese tablets are no longer looked down upon because the manufacturers really pay attention to the quality of their products. They are not only sold at affordable prices, but also pack great features that are commonly seen in premium tablets. We’ll introduce the ALLDOCUBE Freer X9, a new tablet that delivers good performance, but doesn’t cost a fortune.
It looks like any other tablet from the outside. However, the construction is incredibly robust. It won’t easily bend because it’s made of high quality aluminum. It has gone through sandblasting process which further improves its strength. The back cover doesn’t easily pick up scratches. For some reason, it reminds us of the iPad mini mainly for its dimensions. If you compare the thickness, both are actually quite identical. The iPad mini is only slightly ticker.
As you can see, the screen measures 8.9 inches diagonally. It’s an IPS display with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. At 339ppi, the screen looks sharp. Some budget tablets are seriously lacking in this area. They come with large screens, but the pixels leave much to be desired. Thankfully, the ALLDOCUBE Freer X9 knows how to break that curse. A budget tablet can definitely offer a gorgeous display. It looks bright, even visible in direct sunlight. The only downside is we still find it reflective, so on certain brightness levels, text is hard to read. Then again, the overall quality is superb. Only select few in its price range can come close to X9’s stunning display.
As a budget-friendly tablet, that would be surprising if performance becomes a strong point. Well, this one doesn’t disappoint. There lies a MediaTek MT8173V under the hood. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM for smooth multitasking. The built-in storage amounts to 64GB. The performance is quite satisfactory. It can handle daily tasks like browsing, editing documents, and streaming without a problem.
Gaming is a different story. The device is not optimized for this activity and it shows from the graphics performance. It is pretty lackluster, so it’s not advised to install heavy 3D games on this tablet. Next, the battery life is on point. A tablet this size requires a large battery. In this case, the company equips it with a 5500mAh Li-Po battery. Again, for the price point, this is commendable. The screen-on time for video playback is around 8-9 hours and this is with the Wi-Fi on. When it’s not used continuously, the tablet can last more than 3 days in a single charge. It’s actually very impressive.
The 13MP sensor does take detailed pictures, but there are other factors that define camera quality. For one, the ALLDOCUBE Freer X9 fails to deliver amazing results. Photos are average and the colors don’t look pop. Well, it’s not supposed to be a substitute to a DSLR camera. Besides, tablets don’t usually do well in this department. So, all things considered, the X9 still has a respectable camera. The best thing about the camera performance is the pixel count. Even the front sensor is pretty large, 5MP. You can use it to take high resolution selfies.
