Amazon has released some wonderful gadgets, like the Echo. Now there is a new model adorned with a touchscreen called the Amazon Echo Show. The Echo was all about voice commands. The ‘Show’ still retains this functionality, but it gets smarter now as it features a touchscreen as well. It can do a lot of things, like helping you with shopping, providing weather forecasts, showing images, videos, etc. In fact, it can even act as a security device for monitoring your loved ones.

It comes at a price of $230, pretty affordable if you ask. Buyers have two color choices, black and white. Have you heard of the ‘free voice-call’ feature? It has been reported that the new device will have this addition. As the name suggests, people with Echo devices can contact each other through messages and calls. It is not just the Amazon Echo Show, but includes Echo Dot and the original Echo. The new device also has a built-in camera. Just pay attention to the screen, there is a front-facing camera for chat purposes.

Design and Display of Amazon Echo Show

The Amazon Echo Show has a unique angular shape. The base is larger than its top. Compared to the previous model, this one easily grabs attention with its bulkiness. It is not to say that the predecessor is not large, but the way the Show is designed makes it less compact. Well, it is not supposed to be moved around. You’d better place it in an area you often visit, like the kitchen or the bedroom. Why is the base so wide? Little did you know that the base is the part where two speakers are installed, so it being broader than the rest is understandable. The top section is narrower with a screen on the front. It is a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 display. If you own the Kindle Fire 7 Tablet, you will feel familiar since both devices share the same resolution. The display quality is decent, while the viewing angles and brightness are excellent.

Camera

The Amazon Echo Show is more than just a voice assistant. There is a 5-megapixel cam sitting comfortably on top. It can turn into a security cam that provides you with valuable footage. It can also work as a regular camera for video calls. The top houses 3 buttons, two of which are for adjusting volume. The other one is a mute button for the 8-microphone array. Unlike the older Echo, the microphone setup doesn’t have a light right. But don’t worry, the device still gives a sign whenever it hears your voice. It is a bright glow coming out of the bottom of the screen. Just say something to find out how it works. (Also read: Amazon Fire HD 8, a Budget Tablet for Your Daily Media Consumption)

It can answer various questions accurately. It can also turn into a multimedia device for listening to music. The screen can even display lyrics just in case you forget certain lyrics to your favorite songs. Besides, it allows you to stream music on many platforms, including Spotify and Pandora. As for the audio quality itself, it is loud and clear.
