The Dell XPS 27 packs a lot of great features. Although it retains a few traits from the older model, it still looks brand new. The new desktop is equipped with a dual-hinged stand which not only offers flexibility, but also stability. Another feature worth-shouting about is VR addition. Did you know that many all-in-one computers on the market have a hard time handling VR headsets? With this inclusion, utilizing VR technology will be easier.
The aluminum construction exudes a strong premium feel out of the new Dell XPS 27. The edges aren’t that slim to begin with, but it still looks good, overall. The build quality is superb. It looks stunning from every angle. While there is no option to adjust height, you can tilt it. The desktop has a dimension of 25 x 20 inches. Meanwhile, the bottom section has a rubberized square base to prevent scratching. The screen measures 27 inches, displays sharp, vibrant, and bright colors.
There are bezels on all sides, but the largest is at the bottom. It houses 2 sets of speakers along with the Dell logo at the center. Pay close attention to the surrounding area, there is a webcam there. The quality is top-notch. It tends to be a bit grainy and the resolution is pretty good, 720p. Both edges also house some important ports, with a USB 3.0 port on the right and an SD card slot on the left. The rest of the ports actually exist, but they hide behind the back of the screen. This is such a unique arrangement, but they all work to say the least.
The screen is not only large, but also has 4k resolution. This is a powerful combination for editing photos and doing things that involve heavy graphics. The color reproduction is exceptionally good, accurate, and clear. The viewing angles are wide, while the brightness levels are very high. You can even see the screen vividly in direct sunlight. This desktop is meant for office environments, but it is still very reliable for outdoor use. Sound quality is another essential element. There are 4 full-range drivers that work in collaboration with 2 tweeters, producing crystal clear sounds. They are rich and vibrant, even the passive bass radiators also do a terrific job. If you care about audio quality so much, the Dell XPS 27 won’t disappoint. (Read also: HP Spectre 13 Pushes Great Performance in Super-slim Design)
The base model boasts a core i5 CPU. Just upgrade if you need better performance. It puts out enough power to handle strenuous work tasks, not to mention that there’s 16 GB of RAM included for the system to run smoothly. Photo and video-editing programs are notorious for demanding heavy-duty systems. Thankfully, the Dell XPS 27 has everything to support your Photoshop projects. AMD Radeon R9 M385 is also on board, loaded with 4GB of video memory. It handles Photoshop very well, but probably not sufficient for serious gaming. With that being said, if you use it mainly for business like working on spreadsheets and holding videoconferences, the Dell XPS 27 is very reliable.
