The HP Spectre 13 is a stunner and it offers more than just a beautiful design. The first that really grabs attention is how slim this device is. You can compare it to other slim laptops and it still stands out. For those who want a compact notebook, this would be a great investment. Although slim, it doesn’t fall short in strength. It is durable thanks to the sturdy construction and premium-quality material that covers its entire body.

Design

It has resemblance to its predecessor, but the design still feels fresh on this model. Aluminum can be seen all over this slim gadget. It looks even more interesting with its metallic grey color. Meanwhile, the backside has a different tone. The contrast is pretty striking, but looks majestic, nonetheless. This combination does wonders and really reinforces the premium feel of this laptop. At 10.4mm in thickness, it only weighs 1.1 kg. And the best part is no structural aspect seems to have been compromised from the weight reduction. Display

The HP Spectre 13 has a 13-inch 1,920×1,080 IPS display with corning gorilla glass protecting its surface. This addition is awesome for a laptop this thin. It can also be used indoors and outdoors perfectly since the max brightness is measured at 304.2cd/m2. The color reproduction is excellent, offering an sRGB colour gamut coverage of 93.5%. So expect the videos and images to pop. Overall, the screen is impressive and has great contrast. It beats other competitors in various aspects, but is still somewhat behind when it comes to colour accuracy. This is not a problem, though. When all things factored in like brightness and contrast, it still delivers.

Keyboard and trackpad

Not only does the chiclet-style keyboard have a nice design, but it also feels comfortable as the keys are spaced-out well enough.  Just use it on a regular basis, we’re sure it will grow on you eventually. The touchpad also works great although it could have been bigger. Some people don’t use touchpads that much. They’d rather add an extra peripheral like a mouse because it feels more comfortable. If you are this type of user, there’s nothing to lose by skipping the touchpad. It is wide, but probably a bit narrow for your taste.

Features

Thin laptops usually have a problem with ports and connections. With the HP Spectre 13, at least you have a USB 3.1 Type-C, 2 thunderbolt USB 3.1 Type-C ports, and a few others. The internal specs are also not to be overlooked. Aside from a dual-core 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-6500U processor, there is also a 8GB of RAM. Sure, there are higher specs, but keep in mind that this is an ultraportable device, so these are already great. The multitasking feels seamless. You can open web browsers with many tabs while doing other tasks simultaneously. It also has a respectable battery life, can last for more than 6 hours under intensive use. If you’re willing to shell out big bucks for a good-looking slim laptop, we recommend the HP Spectre 13.
