The Insta360 One is touted as one of the most complete spherical cameras money can buy. Saying it is a decent 360-degree camera is an understatement because it comes with many great features. The compatibility with Smartphones is another thing that we find very interesting. It can be attached to a Smartphone and it will be able to record the surroundings without needing to swing the phone around. It’s also capable of taking 24 MP photos in various angles. Besides the Insta360 One, you can also check out the Insta360 Pro and Insta360 Air which are terrific in their own way.

Design

It is quite tiny like the average action camera, but it has a unique ability to shoot videos in different angles. It clips into the top of a Smartphone. The cover is something else because it is multipurpose. It can turn into a lens cap, a stand, or a mini handle. To charge, the compact device is already equipped with a USB, which can also help with data transfer. Overall, the camera is thoughtfully designed as you can see from the shape and placement of sensor and stuff. However, there are certain areas that we think need further improvements, like the tripod hole. Metal could’ve been a better material instead of plastic. The microSD is also a bit hard to access, so it takes effort to pull it out.

Smartphone compatible

It works as a standalone camera, but you can also connect it to your Smartphone via Bluetooth. Pairing is relatively easy. There is no need to enter a password like when we want to connect to a Wi-Fi network. However, the device needs to stay close to the camera due to the short range. Make sure you don’t stand more than 15 feet away from the camera because it will have trouble establishing a connection.

Image stabilization

Image stabilization ensures that the footage is free from blur especially during handheld recording. For this camera, the feature also works by keeping the horizon level. It is beneficial because we shooting while moving can lead to shaky videos. This feature makes a big difference. Not only do videos look smoother, but it can also make the camera flying visually. Of course, it is just a trick, but the footage does look like it’s taken with a drone or something. The best part is the stabilization works during live streaming as well. Although image stabilization is included, users have a choice to deactivate it.

Bullet time

For some, this is probably the most sought-after feature. It creates unique footage in which the camera looks as if it is shooting while revolving around you. To use this feature, a string is needed. Connect the string to the camera, but don’t forget to enable the slow-mo function by pressing down the power button three times in a row. Start swinging the camera. Once you’ve collected enough footage, you can edit and make it more visually pleasing. It doesn’t need another stabilizer thanks to the built-in stabilization.
