We’re just a few days away from the official launch of the OnePlus 5T. If you’re desperate to know the specs, they have just been revealed via GFXBench. It discloses the key features of the new Smarpthone. There are a few highlights, including Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This pretty much confirms that the device won’t receive the latest Android update.
We believe the display will be its strong suit judging by the description. The OnePlus 5T is expected to come with a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The full HD+ resolution will make a big difference to the screen. The panel itself is described as ‘Sunlight Display’, probably a moniker created to refer to its awesome quality. It’s also said to have the ability to switch between 4 main operation modes. The build quality is outstanding because the phone is coated with 2.5d Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
There are many to be excited about. On the paper, the Android phone is promising because it’s expected to feature a Snapdragon 835 SoC. Other noteworthy features are 8GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. When it comes to storage, the 5T will offer big internal storage because the same source says that there’s 111GB left after the initial factory installation. Apart from a 128GB variant, the OnePlus 5T will be offered in a 64GB model. This one is expected to have 6GB of RAM.
GFXBench also provides information regarding sensors that the phone will have, which include gyroscope, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, compass, GPS, etc. The connectivity options are also comprehensive. The most essential ones like Wi-Fi, NFC, and bluEtooth are all present. On the back you’d find the fingerprint sensor. It’s made of ceramic and very responsive. Unlocking the device takes no more than 0.2 seconds. Just put one of the recorded fingers on it, the home screen will be unlocked instantly. This information is gathered from the leaked booklet.
It’s hard to assume the performance, yet, but from the leaked specs it has a shot to outperform the OnePlus 5 by a slight margin. As we all know, the predecessor is already powerful, so it will be a lot of work to boost its performance significantly. The information concerning the camera performance is scarce, so we can’t share anything about it. The only revelation comes from German Source C’t magazine, which pointed out that the new camera wouldn’t be equipped with optical zoom. As for the sensor, it would feature a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel combo. They both have the same aperture of f/1.7 and focal length of 27mm.
Have you heard of the pro manual shooting mode? It will also make a comeback along with quick capture and 4k video shooting. Speaking of the camera app, it will be tweaked as well. While the previous one was already intuitive, the new changes should be optimized for one-handed use. It’s widely known that the OnePlus 5 has a good battery life. The same spec is now carried over from the predecessor. Since the new device brings numerous changes, it will surely affect the battery life.
