Oppo has been gaining popularity in recent years. The Chinese manufacturer managed to stand out by offering affordable Smartphones packed with features. The Oppo F5 is the company’s latest offering. This is a large phone that features a 6-inch screen with FHD+ resolution. It also has a 18:9 aspect ratio, which means the handset is perfect for enjoying movies.
It’s based on the same design language as the predecessors. However, the new handset is strikingly sleeker. That’s a good thing because a phone with such a large screen needs to be made slimmer, so it fits in the pocket. The narrow bezels add to its modern appeal. Gone are the days when Smartphones had thick bezels. Newer releases seem to put more emphasis on thin bezels because they provide comfort and an immersive experience. The Oppo F5 also has curved edges. The battery isn’t accessible because it adopts a unibody design. The front is neat. There is nothing except the huge display, speaker, and sizeable 20MP camera. Meanwhile, the back houses a 16MP camera along with an LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is located in the same area, not built into the home button like many others.
The display is clearly an essential feature because it’s large and has a high resolution. The 6.0-inch screen looks sharp and detailed thanks to the FHD+ resolution. Colors are nice although they can look somewhat washed out. Thankfully, the brightness makes up for it. Text is readable, while images appear colorful. With the aspect ratio, you will enjoy watching movies because content nowadays is made for it. Besides, the aspect ratio is also the reason behind the slim bezels of the handset. A quality display feels incomplete without quality audio. In this case, the F5 provides top-notch sound quality. It’s described as clear and loud. The bass is sufficient, doesn’t feel overwhelming at all.
Some phones in this price range offer rear dual cameras. The Oppo F5 doesn’t hop on the trend. Although there’s only one camera on the back, the resolution is high, 16MP with an f/1.8 aperture. It is actually bigger on the front, at 20MP. The AI Beautify technology is claimed to further enhance photos taken by the front sensor. It boasts plenty of features, including the ability to capture high quality selfies in challenging lighting conditions. When it comes to features, apart from the basic ones like panorama and HDR, you’ll also get timelapse, expert, watermark, etc. The results are wonderful because the colors look vibrant, not to mention the HDR also works exceptionally well. What feels lacking is the low-light performance since noise is still an issue.
There is an octa-core Mediatek Helio P23 inside the Oppo F5 paired with 6GB of RAM. This combination suggests that the phone is a beast in this department. The power it puts out is abundant for casual users and sufficient for power users. It’s not the only variant available. If you don’t need this kind of performance, there is one with 4GB of RAM. As for storage, there are 2 choices, 32GB and 64GB. Both also have microSD slots, which means the storage can be expanded up to 256 GB.
