The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a stunning bezel-less design. There are many interesting things we can talk about this device. Aside from the gold trim around the camera, it also features a smooth surface on the back made of premium ceramic. There is also a fingerprint sensor that works responsively. This is supposed to be a high-end device, and it delivers. If you’re looking for a phone simply for its wonderful design, this would fit the criteria. The front is exclusively dedicated to the screen. This concept really makes a difference especially when compared to the previous releases. The front facing camera has a resolution of 5 MP.
Display is decent although it still sticks with a Full HD+ resolution. Fans wouldn’t be surprised by this because the other series also pack the same specification. There is a few reasons why full HD is more preferable than Quad HD, one of which is it offers similar qualities in certain areas, such as virtual reality. Many assume how this resolution translates on a 5.99-inch panel. Well, there’s no problem with that. The screen of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 looks good, but we’re sure it could’ve been sharper had it packed an AMOLED display instead of an LCD one. Auto brightness works well although you can skip this feature if you prefer to adjust it manually. Auto brightness helps conserve the battery, which means it will lead to more screen-on time.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 gets its power from a snapdragon 835 processor combined with 6GB of RAM. This results in snappy performance. There isn’t any lag even when you use it to load many heavy-duty apps at the same time. Another great thing from the utilization of full HD resolution is the device has a great battery life. With a bezel-less configuration, you will get a new experience of enjoying multimedia content. Videos look very immersive because they fill up the whole screen. As for storage, there are a few models to choose from, such as 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
According to those who have a hands-on experience with the 256GB version, the storage is fast. There is much space left after the system’s data is installed. This storage is spacious, though. You can take tons of pictures and videos before you start to run out of memory. Gaming experience is awesome, not really surprising because we have a Snapdragon 835 on board. It works with Adreno 540 GPU for smooth graphics. If you like gaming, this phone is what you need. (Also read: Apple iPhone X, Home Button Gone, Impressive Display and Camera)
Camera performance is another that puts it further ahead of its competitors. It will please most users. We can describe the quality as sharp and well-balanced. The latter means the shots don’t look overly processed. Many cameras deliver great shots, but the images tend to be over the top or far from the actual quality. Quality aside, the arrangement of controls is kind of simplistic. So even if the quality is terrific, you may feel something is missing due to the lack of controls. This shouldn’t be a problem for the average user, at least it produces great shots. We would even say it is the best offering from Xiaomi so far.
